I perform Hindu wedding ceremonies according to our Vedic scriptures and also, at the same time, provide an explanation in English.
I offer both help and support to the couple by providing them a list of items required for the pre-wedding ceremony and wedding. For convenience I can suppply the Puja items at a cost.
For non-Hindu guests, I can provide a template of brief explanation of the wedding ceremony in English to be copied and distribute to all the guests on the wedding day. I undertake to create a special day in the couples’ lives that can be remembered by all the participates for a very long time.
I hold meetings with the couple and their families prior to the day and have a rehearsal of the day.
Within the ceremony, I try and bring awareness of Hindu spiritual teachings to all present. The ceremony is performed and managed, in a disciplined and timely manner, with a professional yet dynamic approach. I can explain the ceremony to young and old guests in English, Gujarati and Hindi.
The wedding ceremony takes approximately one and half hours. The cost for all the wedding ceremony is standard however the cost for the transport may vary depending on where the ceremony is being held.
Same Sex
Read MoreHindu Scriptures neither condemn same-sex marriages nor see same-sex couples as evil. Gods in Hinduism do not sit in judgement; they neither objurgate nor judge people for their actions. It is up to the individuals to decide what is appropriate for them. The ultimate goal of any teachings be it religious, scientific or philosophical is the happiness of the individual: happy and harmonious individuals create happy and harmonious world.
The question of a priest performing same-sex marriage depends on what ‘marriage’ means to you and how you look at marriage. To me, marriage is a bond where souls are connected. And a soul, first-most, is considered genderless.
On the basis of Hindu scriptures, a marriage is a union of spirits, and the spirit is neither male nor female."
The way ahead is to be pragamtic. I, therefore, welcome and support this type of marriage.
